Sierra Delta Civil Ltd. is a civil contracting company delivering a wide range of multi civil construction projects throughout the wider Wellington region. Run by Sam Dews, Sierra Delta ticks the boxes for a whole range of civil needs from concrete and asphalt to earthworks, drainage and water reticulation.
Sam says that at his previous company, having 47 staff to process timesheets and wages was a nightmare.
“It took almost two weeks! I thought, surely there’s a better way it can be done. Surely, it doesn’t have to take that long. Surely, there’s something out there that can make it better. That’s how I came across PaySauce.”
After being used to a two-week ordeal when running pays, signing up for PaySauce in 2019 meant that Sam’s whole payroll operation became super easy.
“Every second Monday, I'll pull out my phone and have a skim through all the guys’ timesheets, look at where they've been, what they've done, note their hours down and then press calculate. The whole cycle takes me about ten minutes. It's a very, very simple operation.”
One of the features that Sam loves about PaySauce is the use of the mobile app for employees. It means it’s easy for his staff to record details, saving him heaps of time.
“It's done within 10 minutes; I'm not waiting for a timesheet to come in and handed a piece of paper, then I've got to input it and then pay it, it's all just they're ready to go. It means I can be out on the road with the guys working, or I can be in the office getting emails done. The guys seem to love it.
In classic Kiwi fashion, Sam reckons he’s not the type to recommend products to his mates unless they’re decent. “I'm not really one to recommend a lot of things unless I truly believe that it would be worthwhile. But I've recommended PaySauce to a couple of my friends that have started businesses as well.”
Sam’s final thoughts? “Yeah, it’s just a good system!”, and we couldn’t agree more.
