Payroll Solutions Consultant
About us
PaySauce started as a bold idea in 2015 and has grown into a platform that delivers the best payroll solutions for small businesses. With our clever platform and sharp eye for security, compliance and ease of use, we make it easy for employers to manage the human side of business - from digital timesheets and rostering, through to calculating payroll, banking the payments and filing to tax authorities.
We’ve established a strong foundation in New Zealand, becoming a trusted payroll provider for small businesses. We love payroll and people, and we’re revolutionising the way they are looked after: we really care about helping both employers and employees by making the tough things simple and letting them focus on the things that matter. Our goal? Effortless yet flexible. Clever solutions that are intuitive to use and make payroll a beautiful experience.
About the role
You'll be the first point of contact many potential customers experience with PaySauce. This role isn’t about pushing product - it’s about genuinely understanding the payroll challenges these small businesses face, and showing them how we can make their lives easier.
You’ll guide prospects through their purchase journey with us, from that first inquiry through to becoming a happy customer. Your days will involve discovery conversations to understand what’s really going on with their payroll, tailored demos that speak to their specific pain points, and building compelling cases for why PaySauce is the right fit. You’ll also play a vital role in helping us get smarter as a company - feeding back market insights, identifying product opportunities, and creating content that helps others understand payroll better.
About the team
You’ll work closely with our Growth team, collaborating with Customer Success to ensure smooth handovers, and partnering with Product to share what you’re learning from the market. You’ll also work alongside Marketing to develop educational content and enablement materials.
About you
You’ll have a solid grasp of New Zealand payroll legislation and compliance requirements. You understand what small employers are dealing with and the practical constraints they face.
You’re a natural communicator who can explain complex payroll concepts in ways that make sense to people. You’ve worked with CRM or lead management systems like Salesforce or HubSpot, so tracking pipelines and managing customer data is second nature to you.
Sales experience would be great to see, but what matters most is your consultative approach - you’re genuinely curious about understanding problems before jumping to solutions. You’re comfortable navigating buying processes, building business cases, and helping prospects work through their evaluation criteria.
You’re energetic and action-oriented, someone who tackles challenges with enthusiasm. You learn quickly, adapting your approach based on what works and what doesn’t. Above all, you’re someone who builds trust naturally through honesty and authenticity, and you’re genuinely focused on delivering value to customers.
Why you’ll love working at PaySauce
Life is good here with the PayForce. We take care of each other as much as we do our customers: we’re built on being empathetic, kind, and people-first.
We’re committed to supporting your development and ensuring you feel fulfilled and happy at work. We’re dedicated to ensuring everyone feels valued and has a contribution to make to PaySauce’s (very bright) future.
You’ll get health insurance, birthday leave, extra leave if you’re becoming a parent and an invitation to join our employee share scheme. You can ditch the formal office wear - we’re pretty laid back, and the office is fun, friendly and close to shops and cafes. Most importantly, you’ll have an awesome, supportive crew around you in a company that’s really going places.
